We got tired of waiting for the weather to clear, and on the way home we took a quick loop through Garden of the Gods where we met some tourists from Michigan who didn't have any plans for the rest of the day. So I gave them the directions to the balloon event that I had printed out this morning at about 4am. The weather was clearing by this time, but we were understandably tired and opted to just head back to Denver instead of going back.
I caught this little girl in her yellow coat standing next to a yellow balloon that was being inflated and had a feeling it would be a special picture. Her family was a few feet away, just out of frame, asking her to leave with them, and I caught her in that split second of recognition before she reacted to the call.
Yellow on Yellow
My friend, Beau, and I went to the Balloon Classic in Colorado Springs this morning, hoping to catch the balloon launch. We showed up on time, but the sun did not. I don't seem to have very good luck with sunrises in the Springs! The balloons couldn't launch because of the low clouds, but the balloonists stood the balloons up so that people could see them. The place was swarming with photographers!
