In Italian last Saturday, we practiced numbers by telling our neighbors in what year we were born. The kid next to me stumbled over "millenovecentoottantasei", which is 1986 - eleven years younger than me. Ouch. Then it was my turn to rattle off "millenovecentosettantacinque" and, not knowing the numbers as well as I do he started to guess at 1960-something. I quickly interrupted him and demanded he not insult me! And then I helped him to translate it to 1975.
Strange how in the last month I've started thinking of myself as being 31 instead of 30, even though I'm still about a month away from it. There's something about 31 I like better. It feels wiser and more powerful.
Just Doin' Homework
Not an art shot today, just me in my disc chair on the balcony, totally mismatched with an aqua t-shirt, red jacket, and pink fuzzy slippers, doing my homework for Intro to Macroeconomics. Tomorrow is the review for our first test. I hope I'm ready for this... I last did this nine years ago! However the test goes, tonight I am comfortable and not really caring what the cat thinks of my outfit. I apparently don't care what anyone else thinks about it either, since I'm recording it for posterity.
