The novocaine was wearing off and that meant I was getting rather tired (a super special weird side effect that I alone seem to experience), so I couldn't really plan anything, either. I kinda gave up. I changed into pajamas the second I got home. I've been more concerned with following the news updates about the school shooting than with putting up a photo.
I sat on the sofa and turned the camera on myself, bad skin, unkempt hair and crappy lighting. The results were less than fantastic. In fact, they were awful. But I decided to see what I could do with them in post-processing, and this is the result. You would never know that the original is too dark, much too red, and shows a bunch of skin texture of the icky "didn't you outgrow that when you were a teenager?" sort. It's amazing how easy it has become to rescue a photograph, to make something from practically nothing.
To the Platte Canyon High School students and their families, though they will likely never see this: My thoughts are with you. You already know that you are a tightly knit community. May the love you give each other as friends and as families heal you. Namaste.
I Read the News Today, Oh Boy
After a busier day at work, a trip to the dentist for a filling, and the breaking news of the shooting/hostage situation at Platte Canyon High School which is just up the road from us, where one of the teachers is the sister-in-law of one of my loan officers, and with said loan officer rightly freaking out all afternoon as news trickled out of Bailey, I had no photo.
