I dropped Rob off at the airport and headed to campus for my Saturday Italian class. The sky was pure sunshine, and the sound was of rain as the snow that had accumulated in the trees overnight was rapidly melting. It was a day for the avoidance of walking under trees, lest you be pummeled by a column of icy slush freshly loosed from the leaves and branches above.
What has changed other than the seasons? School. School has changed me. I am surer of myself and my abilities and my commitment. A few days ago I met with an academic advisor who, upon listening to me speak of my career and goals and looking at my student profile, told me, "What are you doing here? You don't need to waste your time on a second bachelors degree. You belong in an MBA program. An MBA will be much more valuable to you and you'll get through it more quickly than a bachelors anyway. Here's the CU Denver Business School's phone number." Point taken. In the last three days I've pulled together my application and scheduled my GMAT to meet the November 30th deadline. With luck, I'll be a grad student come January. I never saw it coming.
School has thrown me for a loop, but in a good way. I reconnected with friends whom I miss dearly. Other interesting things are in the works, including my third annual photo calendar and the possibility of compiling these sessions into a coffee table book. It's been a good fifty days. There will be more.
See you, space cowboy.
Not Really the End
Rob and I woke up this morning to discover it had snowed overnight. Not the first of the season, but a snow that leaves no doubt that the season has shifted. That was part of the point of doing a 50 Days during this time period, wasn't it? To watch the season change? I started with a small pile of tiny yellow leaves that had accumulated at the bottom of some stairs, and today I end with yellow leaves bearing snow.
