How on Earth did I find myself balancing quite precariously upon a small rock in the middle of a lake? And on a weekday? Well, it was superbly beautiful weather, high of 74°F, and still sunny and warm when I got off work, so I went for a walk around Crown Hill Lake. In the water on the east side of the lake are the ruins of what looks like it may have once been an observation platform of some kind, but now it's just a concrete slab in the water with some rather wobbly, haphazardly placed stepping stones and, well, I got brave. I wanted to get up close to this really cool-looking gigantic submerged tree stump, you see... Probably not the brightest thing I could do while wearing my good running shoes and carrying my camera. I took the stones very slowly and called upon all the core balance training my knee doctor-chiropractor-sports guy has been putting me through the last two months. Thankfully I did not take any unexpected dives and there was a great sigh of relief when I was once again firmly planted on shore.
