Lyle's Denver Debut(feat. Kadean)

My good friend Melissa's foster daughter's husband, Lyle Iron Horn, is in prison in South Dakota. While he is incarcerated he is trying to utilize his artistic talents both as a way to heal himself and to support his wife, Amanda, and their toddler daughter, Maliya. He works with pencils and draws sort of graffiti/comic book thuggish Native American artwork. Meli has seized the project and found wall space for him this month at Kaladi Brothers, a café on Evans near the DU campus. She got the originals framed, scanned them to make prints and postcards, printed up a whole slew of artist trading cards, and at the opening tonight spent much of her time pimping Lyle's art to anyone who came in, whether to listen to the Celtic music the band was playing or just to get a cup of coffee. Later, her sister, Michelle, joined us with her son, Kadean, who we call our Little Man. Tonight Chelle had him in a little Brett Favre Packers jersey, which I thought my brother-in-law, Brandon, might appreciate. It turns out that Chelle is now working for one of my customers. Colorado quite often is one very large small town that way. This photo is Meli fawning over Kadean as we all tend to do. I remember when he was born - it's hard to believe he turns two next month!
