In the Weeds
When I lived in Florida, working at the restaurant at Mousewicz, if the servers were really super busy they would that that they were "in the weeds". It's a golf reference, and in the Midwest and here in Colorado everyone just says they're "swamped". I've never heard "in the weeds" anywhere but at Disney. As I walked in nearly 100° heat from the bank to the Taco Bell just across the parking lot (for some ungodly reason was was craving greasy beef tacos), I took a few minutes to shoot the weeds in the drainage ditch along the road. On a trail, these purple thistles are wildflowers. In town, in a drainage ditch next to Taco Bell, they're weeds. And the phrase "in the weeds" resurfaced. I've been struggling with Accounting class, and I have a financial statement analysis project due Friday. I've been trying to paint and coordinate help for painting at the condo so the paint is done before the furniture arrives. And the furniture arrives on Saturday. Sometime in here, I need to run laundry, the dishwasher, pack my books, CDs and DVDs into boxes so the movers can take the shelves... before Saturday. Yep, "in the weeds" would aptly describe my life this week.
