In his latest post, Conrad mentioned that he was in Battanbang. I broke out my Millenium World Atlas, flipped to the map of Southeast Asia, and found it. It hit me exactly how unfamiliar I am with the geography of that part of the world.
Then I wondered what the weather was like there. The weather forecast for Tuesday in Battambang, Cambodia is a high 86°F, low of 71°F, with thunderstorms. I'm sure the humidity is making things rather miserable.
Contrast that with today in Lakewood, Colorado: When I left for lunch at 11am, it was about 55°F, which was to be the high. By 3pm, it had clouded over and was blowing and snowing like crazy. Then it started thundering. Yes, we got a thundersnow! One of my bosses looked at his watch and said, "Hmm, Winter's arrived. Just now!"
Talk about being worlds apart, right?
