This morning I finished my Christmas shopping for Vania, my sponsored child in Chile, and her two sisters whose names I do not know. Since I don't want to inspire jealousy in her siblings, I always make sure I send enough for everyone and always make a point of encouraging her to share in my letters. I like sending little gifts like this for Christmas, Easter, and birthdays - stuff like coloring books, crayons, and sheets of stickers. This year, I'm sending three little bundles, each containing a little stuffed animal (the other two are a frog and a monkey) and some hair ties, wrapped up in a bandana. It's small, inexpensive, and won't be damaged by the rigors of shipping. I want to make sure that she and her family know that I care about them beyond just writing a check every month. In a way, I think of Vani as my niece. I need to get it in the mail this week so that it arrives in time for Christmas.
