The Good Ole Days
|
My one and only chore for the day, handed down from on high by my mother, was to go through a couple boxes labeled "Becky's Stuff" to see if there was anything worth keeping. I set aside a stuffed Fredbird, a stuffed bunny dressed as a pilot, some holographic National Geographics, a stack of old scrapbooks, some t-shirts from various college concerts and theatre stuff, the not-for-playing-with Snow White doll Grandma and Grandpa brought from Disney World for me before I was old enough to remember, and a brass hummingbird lamp topper. I found a stack of old TV Guides with various sci-fi covers, and I've already listed the Star Trek ones on eBay. I'm not remotely attached to them, so maybe a collector out there will want them. The t-shirt in the picture is from 1994, the first year of "Like Disco... But not Really", which eleven years later remains an active improv troupe at Allen Hall at the University of Illinois. I'm a founding member, and damn proud of it!
Amongst all these old treasures I also found blackmail material. Hehe.. a forgotten snapshot of one Marc-Anthony licking the ear of one Terry Truckenbrod. A professional shot of all us hotties surrounding Marc as he vamps it up for the camera (I'm in the black and white dress on the right). Back then, I had photographic urges, but no cash for film and development, no know-how, and no nice camera. I carried my 35mm around whenever I had anything, then took the prints to the color copiers at Kinko's where I had the attendant enlarge and laminate my favorites. Marc was the one who most often hammed it up and did interesting things, so he was my muse more often than not. Marc eating a pickle. Marc wearing a shirt exactly the same color as the sheets and therefore "trying" to blend into his surroundings. Marc and I smiling proudly after teepeeing Rachel Nacion's dorm room... ahh, the good ole days...
