The Big Chill

The temperature when I got home from work tonight was a whopping 6°F. It never gets this cold in Denver! This is downright Midwestern and I don't like it one bit! The drivers here totally freak out over ice and snow, being comprised mostly of new arrivals from Texas and California who clearly never learned to drive on it in their native states. Us Illinoisans have driven on it all our lives and while it can't be said we don't care about ice and snow, we can have a certain nonchalance about it - we're just used to it and charge forward with confidence. Needless to say, the drive home was extremely slow and frustrating.

I bought a package of fire wood and made myself a fire tonight. The Charlie Brown Christmas special is on TV and everything outside is ice and snow. I'm working on Christmas projects of a classified nature. It's a rather cozy and almost idyllic Winter night, no matter how much I may complain about the bitterness of the cold.
